E-commerce around the world is thriving. This is good news for many companies that are looking to branch into the online shopping market that haven't already done so. For those in the industry, they are enjoying a sector that is experiencing tremendous year-over-year growth and they employ different methods to continue their success.

Different strategies exist for the retailers in the industry to gain more exposure online and increase market share for their particular product category. One way this is done is through search engine optimization where retailers partner with marketing agencies that optimize their web presence so they rank higher in search engine results pages for specific product keywords and keyword phrases. As e-commerce is blossoming in markets throughout the world, SEO agencies that have the capability to employ international SEO have the potential to help many different businesses gain greater search engine exposure in their respective markets.

The Chinese Market
The Chinese e-commerce market is becoming a large world player in the industry, drawing deserved attention from retailers based in the US and across Europe. With the rapid growth of the industry in China, many are contemplating expansion into this market, and for good reason. E-Commerce sales in China are expected to grow three times over the current level and reach $360 billion by 2015, according to a recent report released by The Boston Consulting Group.

This is in large part due to the enormous internet population in the country. There are 500 million internet users at present and that number is expected to grow to 700 million by 2015 with metropolitan 51+ consumers constituting the fastest-growing segment of the Internet user base in the country. Further, there are more online shoppers now in China than in the US and there will be even more in the future, thus more customers for retailer products. The report points to the figures as there are 193 million internet shoppers at present in the country compared to the 170 million in the US. In 2015, 47% of Chinese web users will shop online, leaving room for even more growth after that.

The staggering potential is clear for retailers and the SEO agencies that assist them. Retailers must look to expand their operations and cater to different markets to further their online gains, and no market holds greater potential in terms of volume of customers than the Chinese market.
