Chris Brown has confirmed that he and Rihanna are no longer dating, after celebrating his 24th birthday at a Los Angeles, Calif., nightclub with ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

Though his birthday was on Sunday, the young artist partied on Friday with his former flame, while Rihanna was in New York for her concert at Barclay’s Center.

It was speculated that the two lovers broke up after Brown unfollowed Rihanna on Twitter last week, when pictures were posted of her kissing an apparent fan after one of her performances in New Jersey.

In a new interview with “The Kyle & Jackie O” radio show over the weekend, the birthday boy confirmed the breakup, saying, “The way I look at it is ... I’m always going to love that person, but people have differences, and people have different wants and needs.”

He then blamed part of their falling out on Rihanna being 25 years old.

“At the end of the day, [Rihanna’s] a young girl. I can’t really be focused on wife-ing somebody that young ... and I’m young too [sic],” he admitted. “I just got to step forward and be a man and be the best Chris Brown I can be, instead of worrying about whoever else is going to be in my side pocket.”

Just two months ago, Brown spoke about his love for Rihanna, telling Daily Star, “I love her and she loves me. That is what it comes down to. Our love is for life. We are meant to be together.”

But his most recent tweets suggest that he and Rihanna may be done for good. “People sometimes ...” he wrote before continuing to say, “Live and you [expletive] learn!”
