Police said that soon after the accident, someone picked up Soules and drove him away from the site of the crash. Authorities are still trying to find out who that person is, People reported.

Law enforcement sources said two deputies went to Soules' home and asked him to step out, but he refused. It took them several hours to get a search warrant for Soules. According to TMZ's sources, deputies found cans of beer when they searched Soules' vehicle that was involved in the accident. However, it still unknown whether those cans were full or empty. The reality star was eventually arrested and was taken to the hospital where a blood test was done to determine presence of alcohol or drugs in his body.

However, Soules was not charged with driving under influence (DUI).

According to media reports, the Buchanan Sheriff's Department is still investigating whether the star was driving under influence at the time of the car crash, which is something he has been involved in the past.

Soules was arrested in 2005 for Operating While Intoxicated (the term used for DUI in Iowa) after which he was fined $500, given a 60-day jail sentence, a 58-day suspended jail sentence and a year of probation. PPrior to that, in 2001, Soules was charged twice for driving after consuming alcohol, E! News reported.

He has been involved in several traffic violations, which include seven speeding violations between 2000 and 2012. In 2002, he was cited for unlawful use of a licence. In 2002, he was charged for leaving the scene of an accident after running a stop-sign, but the charge was later amended to leaving the scene due to defective brakes, reports said.

People have been expressing their anger on social media following Soules' hit and run case.
