Former “Bachelor” star Chris Soules is finally speaking out after he was involved in a deadly car accident. The ABC reality star was arrested for fleeing the scene of the collision, which left the driver of the other vehicle dead.

Soules, 35, was silent about both his arrest and his involvement in the crime until Tuesday. In a statement delivered to People by his spokesperson, the former “Bachelor” claimed he was “devastated” by what happened. Soules sent his regards to the family of Kenneth Mosher, the deceased.

“Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away,” the statement read. “His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher’s family.”

New details about the deadly incident emerged hours after Soules’ arrest. A spokesperson for the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office told ET Online the reality star stood before a judge, who read him the official complaint, on Monday. He was given a $10,000 bond and had his passport rescinded as a result of the charges against him.

Police told ET the collision occurred around 8:20 p.m.EDT on Monday. He was driving a Chevy pickup truck when he reportedly read ended a John Deer tractor trailer. Both vehicles entered a ditch and the driver of the tractor trailer was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

Soules was taken into custody several hours later. He’s been charged with fleeing the scene. It’s unclear whether he was drinking at the time, though that is one of many things listed in the general probable cause list. ET obtained a copy of the list, which sites, “admission/statements, caused property damage, operating motor vehicles, possessed alcoholic beverage/containers, identified by witnesses, near scene of crime and caused personal injury.”

KWWL, a local news outlet based in Buchanan County, Iowa, broke the news Monday morning. State police responded to a call about an accident involving a pickup and a second vehicle, initially thought to be a tractor. At the time, the identity of the person killed in the accident was not public.

This isn’t Soules’ first run in with the law. According to Radar Online, he’s been arrested several times and plead guilty to 13 various charges. His most serious arrest took place in 2006, when he was charged with driving under the influence.
