Christian Barnes, a 22-year-old Disneyland employee, was arrested late Tuesday night on charges of setting off a dry-ice explosion in the California theme park’s Toontown area, the Anaheim Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.

Barnes, a resident of Long Beach, was identified as an “outdoor vending cast member” at Disneyland, according to police. He was arrested on charges of suspicion of possessing a destructive device and is being held on $1 million bail.

The suspect in the Disneyland explosion was described by the Anaheim Police Department as being cooperative with its investigation into the Toontown blast. It said Barnes "indicated this is an isolated incident with unanticipated impacts."

There were no injuries in the Disneyland explosion, which detonated at around 5:30 p.m. local time. The blast was confined to a trash can where the dry ice was placed inside.

The explosion led to an evacuation of Disneyland. Theme park visitors were allowed back on the premises about two hours after the blast.

Explosions that used the same method -- dry ice -- as the Disneyland blast had been reported recently in Anaheim. Despite Barnes' statement to police, it's unclear whether he's also considered a suspect in those explosions. Anaheim Police Sgt. Michael Dunn told the Los Angeles Times that they were considering the possibility that the blasts were related. “Unfortunately, it’s an all-too-common occurrence,” he told the paper.
