Christina Aguilera recently paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston at the 2017 AMAs.

On Sunday, the former “The Voice” coach sung a medley of Houston’s hit songs, namely, “I Have Nothing,” “Run To You,” “I’m Every Woman” and “I Will Always Love You” at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

During her performance, clips from the 1992 movie, “The Bodyguard,” were also shown. The massive crowd was so moved by Aguilera’s performance that they got up on their feet and clapped nonstop following her set.

Last week, Aguilera announced that she has been chosen to sing the songs of Houston at the AMAs. On her Instagram account, the singer expressed her excitement over the opportunity. She also released a statement (via Entertainment Weekly), where she called Houston “the one and only.”

“Whitney Houston is a blessing and I am grateful to celebrate the spirit of her songs and legend that lives on. I feel eternally fortunate to have personally met her and on and off the stage. My deep appreciation for her kindness to me while coming up in the business – her graciousness, humanity and beauty – lived up to everything I could have hoped for in meeting my idol and will forever be cherished in my memory of her,” she said.

“How to Get Away With Murder” star Viola Davis was the one presented for Houston and Aguilera’s performance. “What a voice Whitney had. What an artist,” she said. In her spiel, Davis called Aguilera an artist “with an amazing voice.”

Fans of Aguilera couldn’t help but praise her for her natural gift. On TV Line, one fan said that Aguilera made singing Houston’s songs look so easy. Another fan said that Aguilera did an “amazing job.”

On the other hand, there were also a few critics who claimed that Aguilera did a much better job when she paid tribute to James Brown at the Grammys in 2007. Another fan said that her performance of the Houston medley was “sub par.”
