Cisco Systems Inc Chief Executive John Chambers said on Friday he expects the U.S. economy to be heading for a soft landing, despite the weaker-than-expected August jobs report.

I think the global economy is still in very good shape. While I might be in a minority view today, I still put the odds very good that we're coming in for a soft landing, Chambers said at a business breakfast meeting in Boston.
