Clashes Erupt After Police Destroy Occupy Oakland Encampment

Hundreds of protesters in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement clashed with dozens of police in riot gear in Oakland, Calif., Tuesday. Police used teargas, rubber bullets and flash bang to disperse the protesters.

The clashes stared at 10:30 PDT. Police briefly dispersed a crowd heading back toward the downtown area where an Occupy Wall Street encampment was dismantled on Tuesday morning, CBS News reported.

There were also clashes at Oakland's City Hall throughout the day, after police dismantled the encampment at Frank H. Ogawa Plaza. The encampment had taken over the plaza for more than two weeks. Police removed about 170 demonstrators. About 100 protesters were arrested in the morning raid.
