‘Code Black’
What will happen to Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden) in "Code Black" Season 2, episodes 14 and 15? CBS

“Code Black” Season 2 will only have a total of 16 episodes, and the final two installments will be a crucial one for Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden).

The two-part finale will feature an outbreak of a viral disease that could put Dr. Leanne’s life at risk. According to Harden, her character’s life will be compromised in a lot of ways. “The last two episodes are amazing. It’s a two-parter where we’re combatting a viral disease, and we have to go out into the city to figure out where it’s coming from,” she said.

Meanwhile, “Code Black” Season 2 won’t air a new episode on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Episode 14, titled “Vertigo,” will be released on Jan. 25. This will also serve as the first installment in the two-part finale. The second half of the episode will air on Feb. 1. As of late, it is unclear why CBS decided to go on a short hiatus again considering the show just got back from its winter break.

In other news, the fate of “Code Black” Season 3 still remains to be unknown. In its first season, the series did not earn a full season order and only released a total of five episodes. Major changes in the casting also took place after it was renewed for Season 2. At the time, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Raza Jaffrey and Bonnie Somerville will no longer be reprising their roles in the show. Instead, a slew of new cast members were introduced.

In the coming weeks, CBS is expected to make a decision regarding “Code Black,” but there could still be hope for renewal since the series premiered with 6.366 million viewers, a figure that’s higher compared to its Season 1 premiere.

“Code Black” Season 2 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
