TLC is gearing up for a new show set to debut later this month that will give viewers a peek at the lives of conjoined twins, Abigail and Brittany Hensel. In spite of sharing one body, fused together at the torso, the twins have miraculously lived to reach the age of 22.

One in 40,000 twin births are conjoined, according to statistics, and only one percent of those make it to the age of one. The Hensel twins, who were born in 1990, have defied the odds.

When the Hensel twins were just 6, they were featured on Oprah Winfrey's show and appeared on the cover of Life magazine in 1996. Since then, the conjoined twins have been keeping out of the media spotlight and trying to live a normal childhood in their native Minnesota.

The twins have earned a driver's license and graduated from college -- and now they are getting ready to enter the job market and see the world with their friends.

TLC's "Abby & Brittany" will follow the girls as they do everyday activities.

Although the Hensels are conjoined twins, each has her own personality.

"Believe me, we are totally different people," Brittany (left) tells viewers, in a sneak peek of the TLC show.

"Abby & Brittany" is set to premiere Aug. 28, at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
