Starbucks provided one Connecticut couple with more than their daily coffee fix. The soon-to-be parents left their local coffee shop with a new baby name to go along with their lattes.

Jennifer James, 25, and Mark Dixon, 24, were torn between two names for their baby boy, who is due in September. Instead of requesting the help of family or friends, they placed the decision in the hands of customers at their New Haven Green Starbucks, the New Haven Register reported.

They set up signs at the coffee shop -- where they are regular customers -- asking people to vote on either the name Jackson or Logan.

The two said they were inspired by a system used to choose the employee of the month at that location -- customers choose the candidate by casting votes at the store.

"We saw that and thought we might as well see how it works," Dixon said.

Customers placed their choices in a coffee cup, with the couple receiving close to 1,800 votes from patrons. There were also a few additional names added.

"We've gotten Obama, Jebediah, Lincoln. Someone put a write-in, Webster," James said.

Though the name Logan ended up being the customer favorite, after a little thought, they decided to just use both names -- mainly due to the fact that Dixon and Jackson have a similar sound.

"I don't know why I didn't realize the 'Jackson Dixon' thing, but I think once I realized that, he was going to be Logan no matter what," she said.

The couple settled on the final name of Logan Jackson Dixon after close to half a year trying to choose between both names.

They have separated the slips of paper into Starbucks bags with appropriate labels. The strips will be part of a baby scrapbook filled with mementos leading up to Logan's birth.

“He’s going to love it. We’ll tell him we read the paper every day, everything that we see we cut out for him. We’re saving the paper of things that happened leading up to his birth, and now he’ll be a part of that,” Dixon said.
