Chris Martin was spotted without his wedding ring at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony to honor Peter Gabriel on Thursday in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he made his first public appearance since announcing his split from Gwyneth Paltrow.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to be here," Martin, the lead vocalist of Coldplay, reportedly said, adding: "Why do Peter Gabriel fans like myself love his music? Sometimes the songs are reassuring, like 'Don't Give Up'."

"He's a curator and an inspirer, and he helped John Cusack get his girlfriend back in ‘Say Anything,’" Martin said, before joining Gabriel for a rendition of "Washing of the Water."

Meanwhile, Paltrow was reportedly spotted out in Los Angeles for the first time since the split on Monday but was seen wearing her gold band. She was also wearing the ring in an image she posted to her Instagram account on Tuesday to celebrate her son Moses' birthday. She captioned the photo: “Moses Bruce Paltrow Martin turns 8 today. We love you!”

Martin and the award-winning actress were in the Bahamas with their children, Apple and Moses, when the announcement was posted on Paltrow’s blog, Goop, in March.

And, on Sunday, Martin and Paltrow attended Robert Downey Jr.'s birthday party at his home in Los Angeles along with their children.

"They were lovey-dovey and playful. They were with the kids, they held hands and laughed and joked as a family," a source reportedly said of Martin and Paltrow.

"It was not the typical picture of a divorce. If the reports had not come out, you would think, 'Wow, they are a perfect couple.' Gwyneth was in such good spirits."
