A construction worker working on the tunnels in Grand Central Terminal was killed by falling concrete on Thursday night.

Around 8.pm, Michael O'Brien was struck by falling concrete while working on the East Side Access tunnel. He had been working on the major MTA project to bring the Long Island Rail Road to Grand Central Terminal.

Working in the tunnels is known as a very dangerous job. Over two dozen workers had been killed by working in tunnels in New York City. Work at the site was immediately suspended until after a full investigation took place.

O'Brien's father had been working next to him at the time of he was hit. He attempted to revive as workers rushed him out of the tunnels. He was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital, according to The Daily News. O'Brien had been on the job only two months.
