Tibet is a magical region that is unique and
stunningly beautiful. The local people are devout and hospitable, the
landscapes utterly breathtaking and the atmosphere something from a
dream. A traveler’s first stop in Tibet itself should be Lhasa, the
capital and home to some of the holiest Buddhist centres and pilgrims
in the world. Outside Lhasa, the second largest town in Tibet is
Shigatse, which boasts ancient architecture and a vibrant Old Tibetan
Quarter and is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. The snowcapped
mountains, verdant valleys and Himalayan backdrop outside the town all
make for lasting memories.
