Few cities in the world can match Xian’s wealth of history. From the beginnings of Chinese civilisation at Banpo, through to the unification of the Chinese state and the city’s cosmopolitan status as the culmination of the renowned Silk Road trade route, the Xian of today treats visitors to a spectacular display of the China that was.

For many of our travelers, the 2000 year old Army of Terracotta Warriors provides the most remarkable sight in China.

Xian also fascinates on a smaller scale with its lively Muslim Quarter streets and unique mosque, the 7th Century Big Goose Pagoda, and the City Walls encircling many more historic sights.

Xian’s food is a unique blend of Far and Middle East: join us for freshly barbecued kebabs at one of the city’s many night markets, or to sample guotie, a unique fried dumpling.

And don’t forget to explore Xian’s unique shopping possibilities - perhaps a set of horsehair brushes from ‘Artists’ Street’, or the wood and ceramic crafts found in the maze of Muslim Quarter alleyways.
