Spain is celebrating music this summer with a myriad of musical festivals. The sweet sounds of music and the rhythms of dance will descend upon the country in July and August.

Madrid's Summer in the City Festival, running through Aug. 23, will host 1,166 performances, including concerts, plays, and dance performances. Many of the events are free. Visit the website for complete details.

Spain's Mediterranean coast will also be abuzz with music during the 12th San Javier International Jazz Festival in Murcia and the 15th Ocean of Music, Art and Film Festival in Cartagena.

The jazz festival runs through July 26; the Cartagena festival is through Aug. 31. Read about a Day Off in Madrid here.
