French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen (PEUP.PA) expects output at its Slovak assembly plant to be slightly above 200,000 units this year, with similar volume in 2010, the outgoing chief executive of PSA's Slovak operations, Jean Mouro, said on Monday.
The automotive sector, centred around PSA, Kia Motors Corp (000270.KS) and Volkswagen (VOWG.DE), is Slovakia's main driver of overall economic performance.
Production at the PSA plant, which makes the C3 Picasso and 207 models, has not been hit by the fading effect of scrapping-scheme across Europe, Mouro told reporters.
"Production this year will be bit more than 200,000 cars, which is slightly more than forecast," Mouro said, adding the company plan to maintain production volume at around this year's in 2010. Last year's output reached 190,000 vehicles. (Reporting by Martin Santa; Editing by Dan Lalor)
