Alexa Ray Joel, 23 the daughter of singer Billy Joel, is stable in a New York City hospital following what police called a suicide attempt, the New York Post reported.
Alexa, who is a singer and pianist, took several pills and wanted to die, according to a female that placed an emergency call on Saturday afternoon, the paper noted.
Billy Joel told Newsday.com that his daughter was going to be "fine," and a publicist for the family told the Post that she was "stable" and doctors at St. Vincent's Hospital were assessing her needs.
Alexa is the only daughter of Billy Joel and his former wife supermodel Christie Brinkley. She is 23 years old.
