Chris Cuomo will leave ABC's "Good Morning America" to co-host the newsmagazine "20/20" with Elizabeth Vargas, he said on GMA Thursday.

Cuomo's last day at GMA will be Friday. He worked for three years as new anchor on the show.

"It is a dream job for a journalist like me, but it was also a very difficult decision, because I am leaving a special place and crew and all of you and you are all part of my family," Cuomo said on "Good Morning America" today.

It is speculated that ABC News' executives will announce George Stephanopoulos as the new co-host of GMA.
