Liverpool Hospital getting $20 million upgrade

Liverpool Hospital will get 42 new beds and more emergency department equipment worth $20 million as part of an agreement between the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) and New South Wales.

Half of the beds will go to the hospital's mental health care department, according to Health minister, Nicola Roxon. She said the government is making sure that patients with mental health concerns and need short or long-term hospitalisation have specialised care units available for them." she said.

Roxon also announced further upgrading plans by the federal government upon reelection. That includes a $15 million GP super clinic. The clinic will provide after-hours GP services.

Roxon said a tender process is underway to find an operator of the clinic.
