The U.S. Food and Drug Administration proposed on Tuesday guidelines to help restaurants comply with nutritional labeling requirements ordered under the new healthcare reform law.
The agency said the industry would hold off on enforcing the rules for an unspecified time period so that companies could have time to make changes. It asked for public comment on how long to refrain from enforcement.
Under the healthcare law passed in March, restaurants are requirements to post calories and other details on their menus. The rules affect many chain restaurants and other retail food outlets.
