A 44-year-old man, accused of placing a hidden camera in the unisex washroom of a Starbucks Cafe in Brandon, Florida, was found dead in a hotel room in Punta Gorda, Florida, on Sunday, police said.

Eric Arthur Efaw, 44, of Riverview, Florida was arrested on Wednesday after a Starbucks manager discovered the camera hidden under the sink attached to a pipe and facing the toilet. The manager retrieved the device and notified the authorities immediately who traced it to Efaw by the images captured by the camera of his license plate after he left the camera on, as he walked to his car.

On questioning, Efaw admitted to have planted the device. He was arrested on a felony count of video voyeurism and released later in the day after posting $ 10,000 bail. Police said that Efaw had planted about half-a-dozen devices over the past two months.

Authorities said that Efaw's death didn't seem to be homicide and no foul play has been detected so far. Investigation is underway into the cause of his death. No further details have been released.

Starbucks in a statement clarified that the man, who was reported earlier as its former employee, did not work at the Starbucks store, nor did he ever work for the company.
