Nationally prominent pastor Creflo Dollar was arrested Friday by Georgia police after his daughter alleged the megachurch pastor physically assaulted her.

The 50-year-old televangelist denied the allegations during Sunday morning services at his World Changers Church in Atlanta.

The pastor maintains the family argument began when he would not let his daughter attend a party.

I will say this emphatically. I should have never been arrested, Dollar said, adding all is well in the Dollar household.

The truth is that a family conversation with our youngest daughter got emotional, emotions got involved and things escalated from there.

Dollar faces misdemeanor charges of simple battery and cruelty to children, after his 15-year-old daughter called 911 Friday night to report her father punched and choked her. The story was reportedly corroborated by her 19-year-old sister.

The police report states the altercation turned physical when Dollar tried to restrain his upset daughter. She began to hit back, which allegedly led the pastor to tackle his daughter to the ground and spank her.

The girl called 911 after she went to the kitchen, upset. Dollar asked why she was crying, and she told him, I don't want to talk right now, which led the pastor to charge her, wrap his hands around her throat, punch her and hit her with her show, according to the report.

Dollar reportedly told the Fayette County sheriff's deputy that his daughter wasn't allowed to go to the party because of poor grades.

The 19-year-old daughter told the deputy Dollar grabbed her sister by the shoulders, slapped her and threw her to the ground.

Dollar's wife, Taffi, told the deputy she did not see the fight.

The pastor addressed the allegations head-on during services.

I can imagine ... if I punched my kid, it would hurt her, he said. If I choked my kid, you would see visible signs on her neck. But to come and take a picture of a mark that's been there for 10 years and not have enough intelligence to at least ask the parent what it is, is appalling.

The deputy later asked all parties to write statements. The older daughter's initial written account contradicted her story, which she attributed to her parent's presence when she wrote it. A second version was more in line with her first take.

Dollar was released from Fayette County jail on a $5,000 bond.

Dollar's church has 30,000 members in Atlanta, with satellite ministries around the country including New York, Washington, Dallas and Houston.
