“Criminal Minds” star Shemar Moore is confident that people are going to love his new CBS show “S.W.A.T.”

In an interview with TV Guide on the CBS Upfronts red carpet in New York City on Wednesday, Moore said that the premiere episode of the action-drama series developed by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas will leave viewers wanting more. “When you see this first episode … when it’s over, there’s no way you can’t want more,” Moore said. “The story itself is going to — I don’t want to say preach — but it’s going to resonate with whoever you are because it’s going to feel like real life.”

“You’re going to be begging for the next one and the next one,” Moore reiterated. “And the best part … for us [actors] … we shot all the action.”

“S.W.A.T.” is a one-hour series inspired by the 1970s television series and the 2003 film of the same name. Moore plays S.W.A.T. Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, who is tasked to run a specialized tactical unit in Los Angeles. Other cast members include Stephanie Sigman (“Spectre”), Alex Russell (“Chronicle”), Jay Harrington (“American Reunion”), Lina Esco (“Kingdom”), Kenny Johnson (“Bates Motel”), Peter Onorati (“Goodfellas”) and David Lim (“Quantico”), among many others.

During a separate chat with Entertainment Tonight, Moore said that “S.W.A.T.” is a “thrill ride.” “When you watch ‘S.W.A.T.,’ you’ve never seen this much action with a really cool, interesting, real story and a chemistry that a team has,” the 47-year-old actor said. “Obviously, I’m biased. I’m not saying we’re going to be the best, but we’re going to be something fresh, something very brand new and something unique that you have not seen.”

Moore also revealed that the classic “S.W.A.T.” theme song was updated for the revival series. He told TV Guide that the updated theme song has “a little more bass and … what I call a little more stank.” “It’s going to make your hair in the back of your head stand up. It’s going to make you jump off your couch,” he said. “That theme song is everything. Getting all [the action and drama] plus the theme song … you’re going to lose your mind.”

The actor also confirmed that viewers will also get to see more of his “guns” on “S.W.A.T.” “I work out to try to be sexy cool for the ladies but now I have to work out because Hondo is a beast,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight.

“S.W.A.T.” marks Moore’s return to CBS after portraying fan-favorite character Derek Morgan on “Criminal Minds” from 2005 to 2016. “CBS has been so good to me,” the actor said. “I started out as a baby daddy on ‘Young and the Restless’ and then I got my baby girls on ‘Criminal Minds,’ and now — I just got a really good group of people. This is a team and the guys who do ‘S.W.A.T.,’ they are a team.”

“S.W.A.T.” premieres on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
