Cristiano Ronaldo Transfer News: Real Madrid Star Says Move To Manchester United’s Rivals, City, Is Not Impossible

The £80 million man, whose future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, did, however, say that a move to his former side’s great rivals is highly unlikely.

Earlier in the season revealed he was unhappy for professional reasons and recent reports have suggested that Ronaldo would refuse to sign an extension to his contract that expires in 2015.

Few clubs could afford the Portuguese forward, with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson calling his former charge “unbuyable” despite Ronaldo being linked to a return to Old Trafford. Both Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked to the 28-year-old, with money largely no object for other.

A move to City has always appeared a distant prospect, due to the mutual affection between him and Manchester United.

“I won everything there. It was a fantastic part of my life there,” said Ronaldo this week, according to the Sun.

“And maybe it was the time I enjoyed my football the most because I was so young.

“To be at Manchester United—one of the biggest clubs in the world—at just 18! It was a dream!

“And to play alongside those players you had only seen before on television—maybe that’s why I feel I enjoyed it there the most.”

Ronaldo has said that he will at least see out his contract at Madrid, but has refused to be drawn on his future beyond 2015. City would surely love to secure one of the great players of this and any generation, with the fact that he is a United legend likely being seen as a bonus.

They will certainly have their hands full convincing Ronaldo to move to the blue half of Manchester.

“I’m not going to say it is impossible, because in football the impossible doesn’t exist,” Ronaldo told the Sun. “But I can say it would be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very difficult to play at Manchester City. My heart’s in Manchester United, that’s why!

“I can’t say I’m never going back to Manchester United either—but I can say I’m good here in Madrid and I want to be here.”
