RTTNews - Thursday, the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus announced that the consumer price index or CPI dropped 0.99% year-on-year in August, compared with a 0.80% fall in the previous month. This was the second consecutive month of decline in consumer prices. A year earlier, the CPI was up 5.4%.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices decreased 0.71% annually in August, while clothing and footwear prices dipped 7.29%. Transport charges were down 7.89%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.17% in August.

During the January to August period, consumer prices climbed 0.32% compared to the same period of the previous year.
