RTTNews - Thursday, the Czech Statistical Office announced that the trade surplus stood at CZK 11.9 billion in April, down from CZK 22.5 billion surplus in March. Economists had expected a trade surplus of CZK 9.5 billion. A year earlier, the trade surplus was CZK 6.4 billion.

Exports at current prices decreased 22.8% year-over-year to CZK 173.7 billion in April, while imports dropped 26% to CZK 161.7 billion. This was the biggest annual decline in imports and the second biggest fall in exports since the Czech Republic was established, the statistical office said.

On a monthly basis, seasonally adjusted exports and imports dropped by 2.1% and 1.6%, respectively in April.
