Economic sentiment in the Czech Republic rose to 79.0 in April from 75.3 in March as all of its sub-indicators except the gauge for construction moved up, the statistical office said Monday.
Compared to March, consumers expect an improvement of the overall economic situation and their own financial standing for the next twelve months. The corresponding indicator rose to 81.3 from 77.9.
The confidence indicator for the business sector rose to 78.5 from 74.7. The gauge for the industry rose to 70.1 from 65.1, though respondents lowered their assessment of current overall economic situation.
As demand decreased in the construction sector, respondents expect a slowdown in the development of construction activity and employment in the next three months. The confidence measure stood at 78.6, down from 82.8 in March.
Further, the statistical office said the confidence indicator rose to 91.4 from 89.2 for the trade sector and to 85.3 from 81.7 for the service sector.
