Tuesday, the Czech National Bank said in a report that the country posted a current account surplus of CZK17.1 billion in February, reversing the deficit of CZK1.52 billion in the previous month. Economists were expecting a surplus of CZK1.5 billion.
In February, the trade surplus increased to CZK9.5 billion from CZK4.3 billion, while the services account surplus narrowed to CZK7.3 billion from CZK 7.9 billion.
The current transfers posted a surplus of CZK10.7 billion, in contrast to a deficit of CZK3.1 billion in the preceding month. At the same time, the deficit in the income account decreased to CZK10.4 billion from CZK 10.6 billion in the preceding month.
Meanwhile, the surplus in the capital account grew to CZK13.5 billion from CZK 251 million, while the deficit in the financial account widened to CZK14.3 billion from CZK7 billion in January.
