Monday, a report by the Czech Statistical Office said the trade surplus stood at CZK8.69 billion in February, up from CZK3.46 billion in the previous month. Economists expected the surplus to increase to CZK5 billion. A year ago, in February, the surplus was CZK13.03 billion.

In February, exports dropped 22.2% year-on-year to CZK169.4 billion, while imports fell 21.5% to CZK160.7 billion.

For the January-February period, exports declined 23.1% and imports were down 21.4%. During the period, the trade surplus decreased by CZK 12.6 billion year-on-year to CZK 12.2 billion.

In the twelve months to February, exports slipped 6.4%, while imports fell 5.3%. Trade surplus amounted to CZK56.2 billion.
