Abby Lee Miller’s students will be competing against their newfound rivals, MDP (Murrieta Dance Project), on Tuesday’s Season 5 installment of “Dance Moms” and it appears they have their work cut out for them. In a sneak preview of the forthcoming episode, titled “West Coast Strikes Back," MDP coach Erin Babbs makes it clear her team is going to bring it to the competition stage.

After losing to the ALDC (Abby Lee Dance Company) in Season 5's episode 15, Erin reveals she plans to add “more tricks and more style” to her studio's group routine.

“It blows my mind that we lost last time to the same routine she has been doing year in and year out,” Erins says. “I’m going to show everybody that we are a force to be reckoned with. Abby is not."

The sneak-peek video also shows a glimpse of the ALDC’s preparations for the weekly competition. While Kendall Vertes says she’s not worried about going up against their West Coast rivals, most of the moms make it clear they believe the MDP dancers are strong competitors.

“I saw yesterday they had a 12 hour rehearsal,” dance mom Jessalynn Siwa reveals.

“They’re just trying to psych us out,” Kalani Hilliker responds.

While some of the moms appear concerned about the MDP’s extensive preparation for the competition, dance mom Jill Vertes claims she's not worried.

“Can I give you, like, a little bit of advice? They’re flashy dancers, They’re going to come out and turn and ba-boom! They’re going to have these little fancy costumes. You don’t have that,” Jill tells the ALDC girls. “What you have that they don’t is classic, old world…. I don’t know. They’re not you guys."

What started off as a potentially heartwarming pep talk fell flat, as noted by Jill’s daughter Kendall. “Wow. Thanks, mom. I thought Abby’s pep talks were bad,” Kendall says with a laugh. “Hers was pretty bad.”

While Jill attempted to make her daughter and her teammates feel good ahead of the competition, it appears the MDP girls were not just trying to intimidate them, but their competition’s coach. In a second sneak-peek video from episode 24, the MDP dancers are seen chanting about a “monster” backstage, an apparent ode to Abby.

Abby interrupts their chanting to give them some sound advice.

“Girls, your teacher is going to get mad at me, but frankly, I don’t care. You don’t act this way backstage,” Abby tells the rival studio's students. “I am sick and tired of these other teams showing up with their tricks and gags.”

In an attempt to get even with the MDP, Abby appears to send her star dancer, Maddie Ziegler, backstage in order to scare MDP’s junior soloist, Caylie Almada.

“All is fair in love and war and dance competitions,” Abby says with a smile.
