"Dance Moms"
Abby Lee Miller in a promo for "Dance Moms" Season 5 Lifetime

With just two weeks to go until the premiere of “Dance Moms” Season 5, Lifetime has released the official synopsis for episode 1. According to a press release from the network, the premiere episode, “99 Problems but a Mom Ain’t One,” will focus on the team's loss of dancer Chloe Lukasiak and former student Paige Hyland’s lawsuit against coach Abby Lee Miller.

“The ALDC’s fifth dance competition season is off to a rocky start when a key member disappears and cuts off all ties with the kids and the moms,” reads the synopsis. Following dance mom Christi Lukasiak and her daughter Chloe Lukasiak’s decision to part ways with Abby in the Season 4 closer, it’s safe to say Chloe, 13, is the dancer being discussed in the synopsis.

Following the loss of one dancer, Abby will be forced to call in an “old friend” to join her elite competition team. While the synopsis does not indicate who this pal will be, it’s clear that 14-year-old dancer Kalani Hillker, and her mother, Kira Girard, were her picks. Viewers will remember Kalani from Season 3 of “Dance Moms” and Season 2 of “Abby’s Ultimate Competition” series.

Not only will the premiere touch on the loss of a teammate and the addition of new member, the episode will also discuss former star dancer Paige Hyland's lawsuit against the ALDC coach. “Abby’s world comes crashing down when an ex-student threatens legal action and could jeopardize the ALDC’s big plans for the season,” reads Lifetime’s synopsis.

“I just had an officer of the court serve me with papers in my business,” Abby says in one Season 5 promo from E! Online. “Nobody is going to talk to me that way! No one!”

Ahead of the premiere, Lifetime will air another “Girl Talk" special. “Girl Talk 2” will feature the girls of the series answering their fan's questions about their boyfriends, their rivalries and working with Abby. “We’ll see clips of the girls’ favorite dancers over the years and even learn how to perform some of their signature moves,” reads the synopsis. While Chloe hosted the first “Girl Talk,” singer and actress Coco Jones will lead the new episode.

Competition Results:

In Season 5, episode 1, the ALDC will head to Niagara Falls, New York, to compete at Sheer Talent. The junior group dance will be an ode to “American Horror Story: Freak Show” with their comtemporary routine titled “Freak Show.” Kendall Vertes, 11, Nia Frazier, 14, and Kalani will each compete solos.

According to one “Dance Moms” spoilers page, the group dance placed first overall and first in the pre-teen division at the Oct. 11 competition. (See a sneak peek video of their performance above.) Kendall placed first in the pre-teen division with her contemporary solo “Victorious.” Nia placed second with her specialty routine “Streetstar.” Kalani, who competed in the teen division, took home second for her speciality solo “Dance Til’ I Die.”

“Girl Talk 2” airs Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime. Episode 1 of “Dance Moms” Season 5 will follow at 9 p.m. EST.
