Kim Zolciak was forced to withdraw from “Dancing With the Stars” after the Season 21 contestant was unable to perform her week 3 routine on the hit ABC series due to a health scare. The show’s co-host, Tom Bergeron, was the one to break the bad news to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, who Skyped in during the Monday night installment from home, that she was eliminated from the competition -- a revelation that neither she nor her partner Tony Dovolani took well.

Bergeron elaborated that the rules of the show, which were created when the series first premiered in 2005, state that a participant must withdraw from the series if unable to dance during the installment.

“I can dance, I just can’t fly,” Zolciak responded, revealing that although she’s feeling “really great” since being hospitalized from the “mini stroke” she suffered, her doctor would not let her step foot on a plane.

“My doctor said it was too soon to fly,” she said, adding that her physician told her she would be able to return to the ballroom floor next week. But it looks like it’s the end of the line for the Bravo star -- even after Dovolani requested that “DWTS” bend the rules just this once.

“Maybe if you can get our lawyers liquored up,” Bergeron quipped, before stating that “the rules are the rules.”

Dovolani, who was clearly upset to be axed from the competition due to a technicality, then wished his partner well. “Family comes first, health comes first. I’m so happy she listened to the doctors,” he said.

Because Zolciak and Dovolani had to withdraw from the Season 21 competition, no one else was eliminated during week 3's Monday night episode.

“Dancing With the Stars” airs at 8 p.m. EDT Mondays and Tuesdays on ABC.
