It was a magical night for the Season 22 contestants of “Dancing With the Stars” — well, at least is was for most of them. In Week 4 of the hit ABC series one couple was asked to leave the dance floor during Disney Night, transforming the ballroom from the happiest place on Earth into a tear-filled one.

Unfortunately for Marla Maples and Tony Dovolani, their fairy tale came to an end when they became the third couple eliminated from the competition.

“I did not expect this,” Tony said after it was revealed that they were going home. (Tony and Marla were placed in the bottom two along with Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe.)

But Marla warned audiences not to let her tears fool them. “It’s been the most incredible experience,” the ex-wife of Donald Trump said before gushing about her partner. “Tony has been the most masterful teacher.”

Tony helped Marla discover her inner dancer — and redhead — throughout the Season 22 competition. During the show’s Disney-themed installment, Marla portrayed Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” as she and Tony performed a dazzling waltz to the song “Part of Your World.” The couple earned a 28 out of a possible 40 for their routine.

“Darling, there was nothing fishy about that [routine]!” judge Bruno Tonioli quipped, adding that she was elegant and graceful on the dance floor. But Marla’s sophisticated performance couldn't keep her safe from the ballroom boot, trimming the competition down to nine contestants.
