Olympic ice dancer Charlie White, who became an early frontrunner at the beginning of season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars,” was eliminated along with his partner Sharna Burgess, an Australian ballroom dancer, on semi-finals night in Los Angeles Monday.

White and Meryl Davis, the two Olympian ice-dancing partners landed in the bottom two with their respective floor-dancing partners, Burgess and Maks Chmerkovskiy. While White and his partner were sent home despite scoring 76 out of 80 points for the night, Davis and her partner hit a perfect score.

"What's about to happen is arguably the biggest shock of the season - of many seasons," Tom Bergeron, the show's host, warned viewers before announcing the results. "Our judges are shocked. I'm shocked," co-host Erin Andrews reportedly said later.

White said after learning about his elimination: "All these people are so deserving. From start to finish, it's been an amazing journey.” He added that he would now support Davis, stating: "Now I can 100% be a cheerleader - Team Meryl - love you."

Candace Cameron-Bure, who performed a Viennese waltz with Mark Ballas in the first segment of the episode that earned them 34 out of 40 points, landed in the bottom of the leader board but was safe from elimination. For the pair's second performance, Cameron-Bure and Ballas danced a jazz to Janet Jackson's "Nasty,” scoring 38 points for a total of 72 points.

White and Burgess also danced twice before they were eliminated, and guest judge Kenny Ortega, best known for directing "Hocus Pocus," the "High School Musical" trilogy and Michael Jackson's "This Is It," praised their performance, saying: “Wow. It was like you were the toast of New York."

The “Dancing with the Stars” Season 18 finale is scheduled to air on May 20.
