Dave Chappelle is ready to make a comeback. After disappearing from the comedy scene in 2005 and appearing only at impromptu performances in recent years, the 39-year-old comedian is set to headline the monthlong "Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival" later this summer.

The 13-date touring festival, presented by the website Funny or Die, kicks off Aug. 23 in Austin, Texas, at the Austin360 Amphitheatre and ends Sept. 22 in Phoenix at the Desert Sky Pavilion. The former star of the Comedy Central series “Chappelle’s Show” will appear on the same bill as Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, both New Zealand-based comedians and stars of the TV series “Flight of the Concords.”

Other notables appearing at the monthlong festival include Al Madrigal, Chris D’Elia, Demetri Martin, Hannibal Buress, Jim Jefferies, John Mulaney and Kristen Schaal. The shows will be hosted by comedian and actor Brody Stevens, perhaps most famous for his role as the Taser-wielding cop in “The Hangover.”

Tour tickets will go on sale on the festival’s website starting Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m.

Before the kickoff of the Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, Chappelle is scheduled to perform several other U.S. shows. The longtime comedian is scheduled for two shows in Raleigh, N.C., on June 19; two in Charlotte, N.C., on June 21; and three shows in Nashville, Tenn., on June 23. Tickets for the events are currently on sale on TicketMaster.com.
