David Beckham commemorated one of the most memorable years of his life with a new tattoo. The retired footballer now has the number 99 inked on the little finger on his right hand, and it's clear the year means a lot to him. In 1999, the star saw success in his football career with Manchester United, leading them to a triple win in the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

“99 was a good year for me…” David captioned a black-and-white photo that showed off his new body art. The year has a special significance in his life, as it was the year he married Victoria Beckham after a two-year relationship. The same year, the couple also welcomed their first child Brooklyn, who was just four months old during his parents wedding, Hello reported.

David and Victoria celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary this year by exchanging sweet messages on social media, with David posting a throwback photo of himself and Victoria on Instagram. He thanked his fashion designer wife for gifting him four beautiful children. Meanwhile, Brooklyn celebrated his parents’ anniversary by sharing a throwback picture of the celeb couple, with his father holding him in his arms on their wedding day.

David and Victoria, who is now 41, were married on July 4, 1999, at a castle near Dublin. During their theme wedding, the couple played king and queen -- sitting on red velvet thrones throughout the evening -- and were entertained by their friend Elton John. The couple are currently in Los Angeles with their children Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10 and Harper, 4.

The 40-year-old now joins a host of other celebrities who have commemorated milestones with ink on their fingers. Beyonce and Jay Z have a matching “IV” tattoo, which is their lucky number, while Victoria’s Secret angel Behati Prinsloo has three dots to show commitment to her singer husband, Adam Levine. Dax Shepherd has a bell inked for his wife, Kristen Bell, and Kelly Rowland has a small stick figure on her finger to symbolize commitment to husband Tim Witherspoon.
