- President Barack Obama will remain in Washington, D.C., for the day on Tuesday as he prepares for the first presidential debate of the season against Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

- Vice President Joe Biden travels to North Carolina on Tuesday, where he will speak at a campaign event in Charlotte before making his way to the University of North Carolina, Asheville. North Carolina,  the site of the recent Democratic National Convention, is shaping up to be a key battleground state this year. Obama narrowly won the state over Republican John McCain four years ago.

- A new Quinnipiac University poll reports Obama holding a nationwide lead over Romney, including a massive 18-point edge among female voters.
