- President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will not be attending campaign events on Monday, according to the White House, which reports both will remain in Washington, D.C., for the day.

- A new poll conducted by The Hill found that a strong majority -- 53 percent – of likely voters now expect Obama to win a second term, a significant jump from the 43 percent who held that view immediately following last month’s Democratic National Convention.

- The labor union AFL-CIO is reportedly taking aim at Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, launching a direct mail campaign in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida. The campaign will focus on Romney’s “47 percent” comments, when he said he could not represent that percentage of Americans (who do not pay federal income taxes) because they feel entitled to government assistance.

- Two new polls show Massachusetts Democratic Senate nominee Elizabeth Warren holding an edge over Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.
