-Mitt Romney will begin his day in Iowa, where he is set to deliver a highly touted (by his campaign) speech on the economy in Ames, at 1:10 p.m.. From there he is headed to Ohio for a 7:10 p.m. rally in North Canton.

-Paul Ryan will be joining Romney at the North Canton rally. Prior to that, he will be in Huntsville, Ala.

-New numbers indicate that the economy grew at a rate of 2 percent during the third quarter of 2012 -- expect Romney's and President Obama's dueling responses to help drive the day.

-Approaching $1 billion: Affirming predictions that this presidential race would attract an unprecedented amount of money, newly released F.E.C. filings show that Romney and the Republican Party have raised a cumulative $954 million through Oct. 17.

-Outgoing Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels kept mum during an appearance on "The Colbert Report," when the eponymous host asked Daniels whether he supported embattled Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock. Daniels, who was widely considered to be a potential presidential candidate (and later a vice presidential pick for Romney), deferred to the oath of political neutrality he took in accepting a job as president of Purdue University.
