U.S. stocks finished the day mixed, as the Nasdaq Composite (COMP - 2,683.4) finished the day more than half a percent higher thanks to strength from the likes of Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), and Research in Motion Limited (RIMM). Microsoft enjoyed a 1.5% jump thanks to the release of its Halo 3 video game.
Microsoft's strong day helped it lead the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA 13,778.6) more than 19 points higher on the day. The Dow dropped early and found support at the 13,700 level, which is holding steady as the Dow's 10-day trendline ascends into the picture. Finally, the S&P 500 Index (SPX 1,517.21) was the lone loser on the day, dropping more than half a point.
