Vincent Irizarry is returning to the world of soap operas. After a two-year break from daytime television, the “All My Children” veteran will join the “Days of Our Lives” cast. However, his character is very much a secret.

The actor will play Deimos, according to TV Line. Details about the character are being kept under wraps, but the report says that Deimos “has strong ties to the Kiriakis family.” With so many members of the Kiriakis family on the show, it’s hard to tell exactly what he’ll be involved with.

Irizarry’s role on “DOOL” is so secretive that he hasn’t been allowed to talk about it for weeks. The 55-year-old revealed to his fans on Monday night that he has already started filming. “Finally!!! I'm able to share with all of you what I've been excitedly holding in for over a month now, that I've joined all the incredibly talented people in Salem over at Days of our Lives!!!” he wrote on his official Facebook page. “I honestly couldn't be happier to be working with such wonderfully gifted people, all of whom who have been so warm and welcoming.”

Unfortunately, the actor, whose credits include “Homeland” and “Young and the Restless,” didn’t let any details about Deimos slip. He was sure to tease fans and let them know that his role is exciting, though. “I'm equally thrilled to be playing a character I've already loved playing these past weeks, with scripts that have been so wonderful, I'm excited each time I open a new one to find out what the writers have in store for me next,” Irizarry added.

Deimos will be introduced in mid-January 2016. Before fans meet the new character, they’ll welcome back a few veterans. The 50th anniversary of “Days of Our Lives” is Nov. 8, and in celebration, beloved characters like Bo (Peter Reckell) and Patch (Steven Nichols) are returning, TV Insider reports. Patch first appeared last week and Bo will return on Sept. 8.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for times.
