Brady on "Days of Our Lives"
Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) condition continues to worsen on the May 17, 2017 episode of “Days of Our Lives.” NBC

The gunshot wound he suffered from Xander didn’t kill him, but the trauma to his heart and the inability to find a new one for another transplant will continue to make Brady’s condition worse on “Days of Our Lives.” As the news continues looking grim on the Wednesday, May 17 episode, he will begin preparing himself for what he feels are his last days.

After Xander (Paul Telfer) found Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) at their Canadian cabin hideaway, Brady tried to rescue Nicole and Holly from Xander’s clutches. However, the hero wound up suffering from a gunshot wound, and was left to die on the NBC soap when Xander grabbed Nicole and Holly and took off. He was found in enough time to be kept from death due to the gunshot wound, but things haven’t worked out so well since his return to Salem.

Just a year and a half ago, Brady received Daniel’s heart after the drunk driving accident Eric (Greg Vaughan) caused that ended Daniel’s life. His body had handled his best friend’s heart well throughout that time, and through numerous moments where he could have been at risk of causing himself some true danger. However, the trauma from the gunshot wound has proven to be too much, and his body has begun rejecting the heart—and a new one for a transplant isn’t available.

Now, Brady will receive news from Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) that things have not gotten better, and his condition is only getting worse. The news will be a devastating blow to Brady, as he will realize that it means he is actually dying, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to prevent it from happening.

The news will also hit home even more when Marlena (Deirdre Evans) manages to finally get a hold of John (Drake Hogestyn), and he arrives back home to see his son. The emotional reunion will be one that all will struggle with, because the idea that they are likely saying their final goodbyes to one another will be heartbreaking for the father and son.

Meanwhile, Nicole has now successfully escaped Xander’s home on his private Greek Island and is trying to find her way to Eric’s private plane, where he got Holly to before he was also captured. If she can successfully arrive at the plane and get on her way back to Salem, it could be the very thing that Brady needs to either start fighting back, or to finally let go for good.

Eric meanwhile, will still be stuck at Xander's compound, and when Xander realizes that Nicole and Holly are now both gone, he will become livid, and it could also mean danger for Eric as well.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
