‘Daytime Divas’ Season 1, Episode 3 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘Blind Items’?

Maxine Robinson (Vanessa Williams) seemingly becomes the subject of a tabloid blind item in Season 1, episode 3 of VH1’s “Daytime Divas.”

According to the synopsis for next week’s episode, titled “Blind Items,” an anonymous Page Six item causes Maxine to go on a warpath. While the nature of the blind item remains unclear, Maxine’s “The Lunch Hour” co-hosts Nina Sandoval (Camille Guaty), Heather Flynn-Kellogg (Fiona Gubelmann) and Mo Evans (Tichina Arnold) will likely use the incident to further ruin Maxine’s name for the benefit of their own image.

At the end of Season 1, episode 2, a mysterious woman played by Kristen Johnston arrived at the lobby of Maxine’s place and bribed one of the building attendant to answer a few questions from her about Maxine. The trailer for episode 3 — which debuted immediately after episode 2 aired — reveals that Johnston is playing the role of Maxine’s former assistant, Anna Krauss, who is back in town writing a book about Maxine. But why does Anna need to bribe someone to gather more information about Maxine when she and the talk show host had a previous working relationship? Is Anna behind the blind item published by Page Six?

Also in next week’s episode, Nina discovers that her husband, Andrew Weller (Ness Bautista), has a secret of his own. In Season 1, episode 1, it was revealed that Nina is having an affair with Maxine’s son, Shawn Robinson (McKinley Freeman), who is also the producer of “The Lunch Hour.” Shawn has been convincing Nina to leave Andrew for over a year now, but the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist owes her career to Andrew, so she can’t just leave him hanging, especially now that he’s running for congress.

Also in the series premiere, Nina and Andrew found out that he has low sperm count, so they can never get pregnant together. So when Nina discovered that he’s pregnant with Shawn, she tricked her husband by saying that she found the perfect sperm donor for them. “I found a sperm donor,” Nina told Andrew. “I was thinking a pregnant wife would be an asset to your campaign. … I did a lot of research at the clinics and I found someone who I think is absolutely perfect: Ivy-educated, tall, handsome and athletic.”

Although Andrew was shocked by Nina’s seemingly rush decision, he ultimately agreed with her plan. But what could Andrew’s secret be? Is he also having an affair? Or did he fake his fertility test?

“Daytime Divas” Season 1, episode 3, which also features a guest appearance by Kelly Osbourne, airs on Monday, June 19 at 10 p.m. EDT on VH1.
