Warner Bros. launched the "DC Legends" mobile game for iOS and Android devices Wednesday. The game will allow players to collect and team up not just superheroes but also supervillains. It will include characters such as Superman, Batman, the Joker and Wonder Woman who will battle against the evil Nekron to decide the fate of the universe.

These "super-powered" teams will have to defeat Nekron's legion of "fallen" superheroes and supervillains in DC locales such as Metropolis, Themyscira and Thanagar.

The game features not only characters, but also gear associated with iconic characters such as Batman's Batarang, Sinestro's Power Battery or Lex Luthor's Kryptonite Ring. All the gear can be used to upgrade the abilities of the characters. Once players have collected superheroes and supervillains, they can rank them up to five stars and turn them into "legendary heroes" with powerful stats, a new "visual persona" and improved superpowers. Players can also compete with others from across the world and demonstrate team-building ability to rank in 14 different leagues.

Players can also earn new characters and additional rewards by participating in daily and weekly events tied to the DC Universe. The game is available for free on the App Store and the Google Play Store.
