Dell Inc. said on Monday it will settle a lawsuit for $3.35 million with 45 states which claimed the computer misled PC buyers with financing terms, warranties and rebates.

The states’ investigations into Dell’s practices started after consumers complained about trouble obtaining warranty service, being charged high interest rates when the company promised zero- percent financing and never receiving promised rebates.

In the settlement, Dell agreed to pay $1.5 million into an account for consumer restitution and pay $1.85 million to the states to cover the costs of the investigations.

Dell said the firm had solved the issues with some customers involved in the case before the states got involved.
