Twerking might work for Miley Cyrus, but no one will ever see fellow ex-Disney starlet Demi Lovato shaking her behind for cameras. The young pop stars have a deep friendship, but they are split when it comes to the new dance craze, which Cyrus has more than embraced.

Lovato told MTV News: "She knows how I feel about the whole partying thing. I love her to death and I'm always like, 'Just be careful,' and she's like, 'Dude, I'm chilling. It's fine.' But I care for her so much that I'm so protective, but she's good. She's got a good head on her shoulders."

"She's twerking and she looks amazing doing it," Lovato, who appears to be a little more mature, said of Cyrus.

"I don't want to do it in public. One, because people are going to be like, 'Oh, who twerks better?' And two, I'm really tired of the word 'twerking,'” she added. “It's like 'swag', it's like, 'OK, just stop.' Or 'YOLO;' just don't."

Lovato famously did a 2010 stint in rehab and told Huffington Post the “We Can’t Stop" star stuck by her side. “You know, people in my life -- like Selena and Nick and Miley, even -- they’ve all been there for me during really hard times,” she said.

“I like to surround myself with people who understand where I am in my life and that have my best interests at heart," she continued.

The friendship isn’t one-sided. When asked if she would be interesting in doing a duet with her Disney amiga, Cyrus said, “That would be dope. She’s the homie,” and even corrected @Miley UpdateEU via Twitter for getting her initial quote wrong.
