The U.S. Department of Energy has unveiled a new feature in a form of a map that allows people to study the amount of money for which each state and city in the country are eligible to use under the Energy efficiency and conservation block grant program.

The program provides federal grants to reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions and for improvements in energy efficiency. On the featured map, each state is clickable and displays an excel spreadsheet that unveils a determined money figure for each city. Entire states as a whole are also eligible for money for energy efficiency.

A total of $3.2 billion for the EECBG program was granted under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Cities that have a population of more than 35,000 are eligible for energy efficiency funding. Those cities must apply to receive the money before June 25, while states have until May 26 to apply.
