Designer Prabal Gurung shines at 2011 New York Fashion Week

It's a wonder how an unknown face launching his first collection in 2009 is now the fashion industry's darling, giving tough competition to the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Chanel.

Designer Prabal Gurung has once again reinstated his hold in the international fashion arena with his successful show at the 2011 New York Fashion Week.

The designer, who was raised in Nepal, is today one of the most sought-after designers with an impressive clientele list like Michelle Obama, Demi Moore and Oprah Winfrey.

After studying at New Delhi's National Institute of Fashion Technology, he worked and apprenticed under a number of fashion houses and international publications.

Gurung launched his own collection in 2009 after five successful years at Bill Blass.

The 2011 fashion week in New York saw Gurung presenting a collection that reflected more Parisian beauty than his signature elegant designs. Get a glimpse of his collection below.
