‘Devious Maids’ Season 2 Spoilers: Episode 7 Synopsis Leaked Online, What Will Happen In ‘Betrayal’?

“Devious Maids” will kick off June on a dramatic note when the Lifetime series airs its most theatrical episode of Season 2 yet on Sunday, June 1, at 10 p.m. EDT. Don’t believe us? Just check out the synopsis for “Betrayal” below!

In episode 7, Marisol will try to convince Nicholas to get rid of his longtime trusted maid, Opal. In the earlier episode titled “Private Lies,” Marisol discovered that Opal had a lesbian affair with Dahlia, Nicholas’ now-deceased wife, behind his back. Scandalous! But can Marisol really prove Opal’s wrongdoing to Nicholas?

And that’s not the only drama about to go down. “Reggie grows jealous when he learns of Rosie’s history with Spence,” the summary continues. “Carmen tries to let Ty down easy; Zoila gets closer to Javier, and Adrian is suspicious of the relationship between Evelyn and Tony.”

No wonder episode 7 is called “Betrayal?” As “Devious Maids” fans already know, show creator Marc Cherry likes to name his episodes after acclaimed plays, using well-known dramas as a sort of guide. So, what is “Betrayal” about? Well, there's the famous 1978 play with the same title written by Harold Pinter that's critically regarded as one of the playwright’s major dramatic works.

The plot of Pinter's “Betrayal” centers around a seven-year affair involving two married couples, Emma and Robert and Jerry (Robert’s close friend) and Judith. For five years, Jerry and Emma have an affair right under their spouses’ noses. But eventually the guilt eats away at Emma, and she eventually confesses to her husband about her infidelity, which betrays Jerry.

Despite exposing her unsavory behavior, Emma continues to have an affair with Jerry. She breaks the news to Jerry that her marriage to Robert ended after she admitted cheating on him “last night.” But the truth is that Robert knew about the affair for the past few years.

With that said, who did Cherry have in mind when naming episode 7? Our thoughts raced directly to Adrian, Evelyn and Tony. Granted, everyone in “Devious Maids” faces betrayal of one form or another, but these three in particular directly correspond with the plot of Pinter's “Betrayal.”
